Our Board of Directors had a vision to build a Community Impact Center that would be a site for even greater collaboration between United Way and local nonprofit organizations we support. They envisioned a centrally located, synergistic space that would:
• Consolidate United Way’s two offices into once central location
• Enable us to serve a greater number of Monterey County residents in need
• House offices of mission-aligned nonprofits
• Provide space for partners to host meetings and trainings
• Serve as an incubator for innovative solutions to our community’s greatest needs
The 31,000 square foot Center houses 5 tenants plus the United Way administrative offices in a newly revitilized Salinas, the Monterey County seat. It includes space for community meeting rooms and available accommodations for local nonprofit organizations supporting human services. The Impact Center will benefit our community with a central location, high quality human services, and home for innovative services.
What is one interesting fact about your space?
The building dates back to 1930 and has housed many different organizations and activities through the years. It was recently refurbished by a forward thinking local real estate investor who assembled many high quaility community benefit organizations under one roof and then chose to sell a turnkey operation to United Way during an exciting time of urban renewal in downtown Salinas. The Building maintains its historic character while adapting well to new uses in the current era.
