Member Highlight: Shared Spaces – Mankato Area Foundation

Shared Spaces – A Center for Nonprofit Collaboration, owned and managed by the Mankato Area Foundation (MAF), opened its doors in 2015 with a full roster of long-term tenants. Located in the heart of City Center Mankato, Shared Spaces’ goal is to raise the visibility and professionalism of the local sector. As a hub of nonprofit activity, our center is a space where organizations share resources, easily connect and interact with each other, and host volunteers and stakeholder meetings throughout our various conference rooms.

As tenants began to outgrow the current space, MAF decided to expand into the adjacent building. In September 2020, on the fifth anniversary of the Shared Spaces original opening, the Shared Spaces Philanthropy Center opened its doors. The goal of this new space: to dedicate a community space to charitable giving.

What is one interesting fact about your space?

We have four conference rooms, ranging from large to small, which are available free of charge to any nonprofit organization to reserve. Each year our facility is host to hundreds of visitors from organizations throughout our region for various meetings, trainings, and convenings.

What are your favorite resources that you would recommend to others?

We use Roomzilla for the management of our meeting spaces. With having multiple tenants and other organizations using our rooms, it eliminates the need for one person to manage all reservation requests.
