Member Highlight: NonProfit Collaborative of Howard County

The NonProfit Collaborative (NPC) opened in the spring of 2017, bringing to fruition a long-held goal of developing a shared space to bring nonprofits together to better serve our community. The NPC currently houses 12 organizations serving a broad range of needs. Co-location has enabled them to expand their programs, achieve greater stability, and develop stronger relationships with each other.

The NPC is more than a physical building. It’s a vibrant, collaborative ecosystem that plays a vital role in strengthening our community’s human services infrastructure and has become a hub for the larger nonprofit community. Especially now, with nonprofits facing so many challenges, having the stability provided by the NPC is essential – because stable nonprofits create stronger and healthier communities.

Now in our 10th year, we will be expanding the NPC in the summer of 2027, welcoming more nonprofits into our shared space and increasing the number of services provided.

Following our move into a primarily commercial office park, Howard County government relocated many of their community service agencies into nearby buildings, creating a community resources campus. As a result, residents can now take one bus ride or car trip to get help with housing, food insecurity, support for victims of domestic violence, services for aging populations, financial counseling, and so much more.
