Member Highlight: The Alliance Center

The Alliance Center serves as a Colorado’s Hub of Sustainability in downtown Denver, owned and operated by the nonprofit Alliance for Sustainable Colorado. Since 2004, this multi-tenant shared space has been home to nonprofits working on advancing issues surrounding the environment, alternative transportation, healthy communities and much more. On its tenth anniversary, the building underwent a major renovation, transforming the floor plan from traditional office suites to an open concept that allows nearly twice as many people to work out of the same 40,000 square foot space. Throughout its history as a nonprofit center, The Alliance Center has also led the way as a green building, demonstrating new technologies and building materials that are greener than ever before. Recently, it became the fifth building in the world to earn LEED Dynamic Plaque certification. One of its newest projects is converting the building’s power supply from alternating current (AC) to direct current (DC), creating an onsite microgrid with batteries that will be powered primarily by solar panels on the roof, adding energy savings to an already highly energy efficient building.
